For the logo I wanted to incorporate the idea of the company giving out prizes for art and architecture, whilst still looking professional and bank-like.
I looked at existing venture capitalist logos:
I found that they were quite geometric and had a sense of movement with them, i wanted to incorporate this idea into my own. I like the idea of having a simple dark design as the base colour, however other options for the logo (which will stand out on all backgrounds. This is because it will probably be shown on posters which can be any colour.
The logo I went for resembles stairs, or columns that are going upwards. This is to represent the company giving money to help fund people in architecture and art, and therefore pushing them up to the next step.
The lines between the ‘steps’ are to hint towards the architecture side of the company, as if they are being designed. It also helps add dimension, however still is simple enough to be a logo.
This is a deconstructed version of the original logo, it shows the individual parts of the logo. I did it this way because i struggled to get all of the pieces to stay opaque when i made it in the first place. (Shown below), I fixed this by masking the path.
The font for the first part of the logo is called : Zillah Modern Expanded.
The second part that says “venture capital” is ZillahModernLine, part of the same font family, however it is different enough to stand out. I wanted it to mirror the lines on the logo itself.
I think the logo works well on its own AND with the text, making it versatile for the use on different platforms.
